The Robert Simpson Society

The Society was founded in 1980 with the aim of bringing Robert Simpson's music to a wider public. It does this by:

  • Sponsoring recordings. Hyperion Records, a major independent record company, has undertaken to record Simpson's works. Most of Robert Simpson's works have already been recorded. The society has contributed towards the the cost of some of these recordings.
  • Sponsoring live performances. The society sponsors or supports live performances of Simpson's work throughout the United Kingdom and abroad.
  • Issuing publications. The society publishes a scholarly journal, TONIC, which is devoted to analysis of Simpson's work. Also two book projects are in preparation, a scholarly volume devoted to the music and a biography. This new website is to inform anybody interested in forthcoming performances, publications and other news.
  • Maintaining the Robert Simpson Society Archive.
